Hi all!

This is a font I have been searching for for a long time now, and I have unfortunately never seen this exact design used anywhere else, so it might very well be custom.

The only available source for this typeface I know of is the album Steptacular, which was released by the pop group Steps in 1999.

The first image I've included here is my recreation of the available characters used on the album's track list, and the second image is a scan of the track list itself. Note: I found the form of the J from certain editions' bonus track "Just Like the First Time".

Similar fonts, but not exactly the same:

More often than not, the characters that differ the most from other LCD/dot matrix fonts out there are the A, G, M, R, S, W and the numbers. The digit 1 in particular.

The typeface also appears to be monospaced.

I do hope you are able to help!

Thank you so much for reading!

Hi Frans,

I had a look, and while I found several other fonts that come close – including a few that were around in 1999 – none was a perfect match. We have to consider the possibility that it’s a custom creation, made by the designer for their own work, or especially for this cover. Making a dot matrix font like this doesn’t take very long.

Hi, Florian.

Thank you so much for taking the time to look. I really do appreciate it.

I was afraid that this design was custom, but it looks as though that is indeed the case. Not to fear. I have all the major characters with the exception of the uppercase Q, so I think I can be satisfied with my own digitalization of the font.

Thank you again!
