Late '60s. I think this is drawn, but looks like it's based on a typeface. Does anyone know what it is?

Is this a Rick Griffin poster? What leads you to believe it's based on a typeface?

The designer is Bob Schnepf. The reasson why I'm thinking it could be based on a typeface is the consistency of the letters, but also because I have a vague memory of a similar art nouveau styled typeface. Especially the letter A. I grew up with psych rock posters on the wall so maybe it's just one of his posters I remember.

Freddy has some similarities.

Here is a better view of the poster:

Here is another poster he did with similar type:

Ahh, Oracle, yes. Here's this issue in its entirety in the recently launched Letterform Archive site. I’m sorry, but I think this is just Schnepf’s own model, not based on a typeface.

That's amazing. Thanks!

Not an exact match, but K-Type has created an homage typeface based on Mr. Griffin’s lettering.

Scriptorum’s Bad Acid typeface seems to be another, though uncredited.
